All About Stamp Collecting
by Joseph Then
When was the last time you did something other than your
daily routine? Do you have a hobby? If you don't have you ever
thought of stamp collecting? Well, I guess not. Why? Because
you may think that stamp collecting is a very traditional hobby
and it is a hobby usually for senior citizens or u may call it
old people. I bet you think it is not cool to collect
stamps.
However, what you do not know about stamp collecting is that
it will entice you even if you have never thought of it before.
The bright colours and fine print on the stamp are after hard
to resist. There is something you have to know: Taking up a new
hobby takes some guts. You may not know anything about stamp
collecting, therefore, this is a guide where you can know
everything you need to know about stamp collecting.
Taking up a new hobby may be very difficult for some but you
have to know that stamp collecting is very special. However, it
requires some patience. You need patience to collect the stamps
and sometimes it takes years to perfect the art of stamp
grading.
You may be thinking of ways or even boxes to store your
stamps. But wait. All you need is an album with hinges. Why
can't you just paste the stamps on the album or even paste in
on a cardboard. Let me tell you the secret of having
hinges. By having hinges, it allows you stamps
enthusiasts to classify and rearrange your stamps by any way
you like in future, when your collection gets bigger.
The next thing you need is a magnifying glass and a stamp
tong. A magnifying glass is important as you may not be able to
see the fine prints and fine details of a stamp with your naked
eyes. Therefore, you need a magnifying glass to take a closer
look at them. Stamp tongs usually have rounded tips. You should
avoid handling the stamps with your bare hands as this may
cause the oil from your skin to damage the stamp.
Apart from the tools, you also need to get the stamps.
Where? You may get a large packet of stamp from the bookstores,
Alternatively, you may also remove used stamps from postages.
This will allow you to safe money but it may also be time
consuming. You have to be careful when removing the stamps as
they may tear when you try removing them.
Natural disasters and accidents are inevitable. What happens
if there is a flood? Yes. all you albums and years of
collecting stamp are gone to waste. I suggest that you get a
few or maybe a bundle of polythene packet. You can keep your
album in this packets so that it would not get wet. It will be
terrible to see your stamp collection for past years gone to
waste.
Believe me, once you start collecting stamps and learn how
to grade and appreciate them, you will fall in love wih your
new hobby. If you doubt me, why not take a chance and take up
stamp collecting. Maybe stamp collecting is the hobby you need
to spend your free time wisely.
